I cannot help myself. I'm not an visual artist (I play guitar), but I collect smileys for my kids. It astonishes me how imaginative some of this smiley artwork is. You learn a lot about people by how they accept/ reject/ tolerate smiles. You learn a lot about a particular artist, too, by what they're able to do with the smiley concept. It's fascinating that so many minds have come up with such varied takes on something that seems to generally irritate people. I think folks like smileys a lot more than they're ready to admit. Everyone's so cautious about coming out on the side of good and happiness these days. Smileys remind us to lighten up, because it's important to lighten up.
Enough pontificating. Please enjoy your day.
